140 years of KLINGER: Built on Experience, Driven by Trust

In 1886, Richard Klinger laid the foundation for a company that would go on to support industries across the world. What started out in Vienna as an entrepreneurial ideal has developed into an international industrial group with a clear focus: delivering trusted solutions for sealing, fluid control, and services.

Fast forward to 140 years later, KLINGER stands for much more than a name with history. It stands for experience gained under real operating conditions, for technologies that have evolved with the needs of industry, and for partnerships built on reliability. This is a moment worth acknowledging. After all, trust is not created overnight. It grows through proven performance, long-term relationships, and the ability to deliver when it matters most.

From Viennese Roots to Global Reach

When Richard Klinger started his business, industrial development was accelerating rapidly. Steam power, mechanical engineering, and new manufacturing processes were shaping the modern industrial age. In this environment, reliability was not simply a quality feature. It was essential. Machines, plants and processes depended on components that could withstand pressure, temperature, and continuous operation.

This understanding has accompanied KLINGER from the very beginning. Over decades, the company expanded its expertise, developed new materials and technologies, and established itself as a trusted partner in demanding industries. From sealing solutions to valves, level gauges, expansion joints, and service offerings, KLINGER has continued to adapt to changing requirements while remaining committed to the same principle: industrial performance depends on trust.

Today, the KLINGER Group is active worldwide, serving customers in sectors where safety, efficiency, and reliability are critical. The company’s development reflects the transformation of industry itself: from early mechanical systems to highly specialized, globally connected operations.

What 140 Years Really Mean

A company history of 140 years is not only defined by milestones, products or locations. It is shaped by people. Generations of employees have contributed their knowledge, experience, and commitment to KLINGER. Customers and partners have placed their trust in the company’s solutions. Markets have changed, technologies have advanced – and expectations have grown.

Through all of this, KLINGER has continued to move forward. The company’s long-standing success is based on several strengths that remain highly relevant today:

» Engineering expertise developed through decades of industrial experience

» Reliable technologies designed for demanding applications and operating conditions

» Close customer relationships built on technical understanding and practical support

» Global presence combined with local market knowledge

» Continuous innovation in materials, products, processes, and services

» A strong sense of responsibility for safety, quality, and long-term performance

A Legacy of Trust and Responsibility

The connection to the company’s origins remains part of KLINGER’s identity today. For Christoph Klinger-Lohr, CEO of KLINGER Holding and a descendant of Richard Klinger, the 140-year history is not only a legacy, but also a responsibility.

„I see trust not as something we inherit, but as something we have to earn over and over again. For 140 years, KLINGER has stood for technical expertise, reliability, and a strong commitment to solving our customer’s challenges. This mindest continues to guide us also today: we listen, we understand, and we develop solutions that create lasting value.”

Christoph Klinger-Lohr, CEO of KLINGER Group

This perspective reflects what has carried KLINGER throug many decades of industrial change and what continues to define the Group today: being trusted worldwide through expertise, reliability, and solutions that stand the test of time.

Trust is Built Under Real Conditions

While trust is often described as a value, for KLINGER, it is also a result. It is created when a gasket performs reliably in a critial application, when a valve operates safely over many years, when service experts support a plant during shutdown, or when a customer receives advice that is technically sound and practically useful.

This is where KLINGER’s history becomes relevant. 140 years of experience mean 140 years of learning from real applications, real industries, and real customer neewds. The company’s solutions are used in environments where reliability is not only essential, but critical.

Even though KLINGER’s 140 year-year history provides strong roots, the focus remains on the future. Industries are changigng rapidly. Digitalization, sustainability requirements, energy transformation, and increasing efficiency demands are respahing the way comapnies operate. KLINGER continues to respond to these developments with technical expertise, innovation, and a clear commitment to supporting customers worldwide.

It all started in 1886 but it continues today through every employee, customer project, production site, service assignment, and new solution. 140 years are not just a look back. They are a reminder of what has always defined KLINGER: experience, reliability, and the confidence to take on the challenges of tomorrow.

Trust is built over time. At KLINGER, it has been built for 140 years.
