Sealing Conference 2023 in Vienna – a groundbreaking event

Five years after the last Sealing Conference, we invited our international sales partners to a meeting in Vienna.

The last Sealing Conference took place in Warsaw in 2018 and since then a lot has happened in the international sealing market. We are all the more pleased that we have finally managed to bring together KLINGER sealing experts from all over the world again.

This event was more than just an opportunity to share knowledge - it was an inspiring meeting place for innovation, best practices and sustainability - in a beautiful ambience at the Parkhotel Schönbrunn premises.

The experienced sealing specialists from our service and distribution partners had the opportunity to get to know each other better and to exchange ideas.

In a constantly evolving technical world, it is vital to work with our partners on a global scale to find new solutions and share best practices. Our common goal is to meet our customers' requirements in the best possible way while making a positive impact on the environment.

On the part of KLINGER Dichtungstechnik, current topics were covered that not only affect the sealing industry, but are also of great interest far beyond. These included information and updates on:

  • PFAS
  • Hydrogen
  • CO2 Footprint

PFAS – a topic that moves the industry

This included an update on the planned PFAS regulation by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and its impact on the various industries, including the sealing industry. In addition to the hazardous PFAS, whose use should of course be questioned, there is also PTFE, which is harmless and indispensable for the sealing industry. All participants agreed on the importance of PTFE for seal production.

Hydrogen – we are prepared

Another important topic covered was hydrogen applications. Hydrogen is a clean-burning gas and is at the heart of power-to-X technology, which turns surplus renewable energy into green hydrogen by means of electrolysis of water. The fact that our sealing materials are suitable for this was proven and confirmed not least by tightness tests conducted by TÜV Süd.

CO2 footprint

The "product carbon footprint“ (PCF) is a crucial indicator of the environmental impact of products. The calculation and reporting of the release of carbon dioxide, before and during the entire production process, is therefore of great importance. KLINGER Dichtungstechnik has been reporting the results in its "Environmental Statement" for more than 20 years. Building on this basis, we will further strengthen our activities in this area.

After an interesting first day, we had a guided tour of the premises at Schönbrunn Palace.

Best Practice – presentations from our sales partner

The afternoon of the second day of the Sealing Conference was filled with highly interesting "Best Practice" presentations from our service and sales partners.

By sharing best practices and sealing solutions, companies increase the quality of their products, minimize defects, and reduce resource consumption. This not only promotes competitiveness, but also contributes to sustainability. At a time when innovation and environmental considerations are crucial, "best practice" examples are an invaluable resource for the entire industry.

In conclusion, the Sealing Conference was a complete success! This was shown by the numerous positive feedbacks we received from the participants. Their enthusiasm and valuable feedback have convinced us: There will be another Sealing Conference in 2 years at the latest. We are already looking forward to further inspiring discussions and progress in our industry!
