Product Carbon Footprint: A key indicator for environmental impact

The Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) indicates all CO2 emissions during the entire life cycle of a particular product, from the purchase of raw materials to delivery ("cradle-to-gate").

When calculating the PCF, we distinguish between different emission scopes:

Scope 1: includes direct emissions such as those from company facilities and company vehicles.

Scope 2: also includes direct emissions caused by purchased energy, heating, cooling and steam.

Scope 3: distinguishes between direct and indirect emissions. Indirect emissions (upstream) are included in our calculated product carbon footprint. These include purchased goods and services as well as transportation and distribution. The indirect emissions in Scope 3 (downstream) such as leased assets, employee commuting and capital goods are not included in our PCF.

Our KLINGERSIL products have a PCF of 2-4 kg CO2e/kg.
Our KLINGER top-chem products have a PCF of 8-10 kg CO2e/kg.

These values reflect the specific environmental impact of our two product lines and help us to take targeted measures to reduce our carbon footprint.

At KLINGER Dichtungstechnik, we take this responsibility seriously and have been reporting on our measures in our "Environmental Statement" for over 20 years. This long-term transparency and commitment to sustainability forms the basis for our continuous improvements in this area.

By accurately calculating and reporting the PCF, we can not only minimize the environmental impact of our products, but also provide valuable information to our customers and partners. This enables them to make informed decisions and achieve their own sustainability goals.

Building on this solid foundation, we will continue to strengthen our activities. This includes implementing advanced technologies and processes to reduce CO₂ emissions and promoting sustainable practices along the entire supply chain.

Our goal is to continuously reduce our product carbon footprint while ensuring the quality and performance of our products. By minimizing our environmental impact, we are helping to create a more sustainable future for generations to come.

KLINGER Dichtungstechnik remains committed to being a leader in sustainability and we look forward to continuing to transparently share our progress and achievements with you.
